Synopsis

In the 2003 film Snowboarder, we follow Gaspard, a talented but directionless snowboarder living in the picturesque Alpe d'Huez. Working in a local surf shop owned by Beshop, a former professional coach, Gaspard spends his days dreaming of becoming a professional snowboarder like the enigmatic Josh Atterssen. When the charismatic but unpredictable Josh offers to personally train him in Gstaad, Gaspard sees his opportunity for greatness and leaves Beshop behind, unaware of the darker challenges that await him.

As Gaspard immerses himself in the glamorous world of competitive snowboarding, the film explores themes of ambition, trust, and the often-blurry line between mentorship and manipulation. Initially dazzled by the thrill of his new life, Gaspard's naivety puts him at the mercy of Josh's questionable motives. The story delves into the complexities of ambition, as Gaspard grapples with the pressures of the sport and the moral compromises that come with chasing his dreams. With its blend of crime, drama, and sport, Snowboarder offers an engaging look at the price of success and the lengths one might go to in pursuit of their passion.
