Synopsis

In the zany action-comedy Le Guignolo, released in 1980, we follow the misadventures of international con artist Alexandre Dupré, portrayed with charming wit by the film's star, Jean-Paul Belmondo. Fresh off a string of criminal failures, Alexandre embarks on a new scheme in the enchanting city of Venice, where he plans to swindle unsuspecting Japanese businessmen by peddling a counterfeit Canaletto painting. However, his plans take a chaotic turn when he unwittingly becomes embroiled in a deadly game of espionage after a fateful encounter on a plane. When a mysterious stranger entrusts him with a briefcase, only to be gunned down moments later, Alexandre finds himself targeted by ruthless agents determined to recover the valuable item.
