Synopsis
In the whimsical comedy Find the Lady (1976), chaos ensues when two bumbling hoodlums, Trigger (Mickey Rooney) and Leo (Dick Emery), are enlisted by the scheming J.K. (Peter Cook) to kidnap his own niece, Victoria (Alexandra Bastedo). What starts as a seemingly straightforward plot quickly spirals into a farcical adventure, as J.K.'s dubious motivations create a tangled web of misunderstandings and slapstick humor. The film captures the absurdity of the situation, showcasing how the best-laid plans can go hilariously awry when incompetence reigns supreme.
As the story unfolds, the pressure mounts for the local police, represented by the hapless officers Kopek (John Candy) and Broom (Lawrence Dane), who are tasked with locating Victoria and bringing her back home safely. Their attempts to unravel the farce are met with a string of comedic failures and outrageous scenarios, highlighting themes of loyalty, deception, and the lengths individuals will go to for their own interests. With a mix of zany characters and unpredictable twists, Find the Lady offers a lighthearted romp through a world where nothing is quite as it seems, making it a delightful watch for fans of classic comedy.
